DEDICATION

General Douglas A. MacArthur was born January 26, 1880 in Little Rock, Arkansas.  He died April 5, 1964 and is buried in the MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk, Virginia.

A five star general, General MacArthur counted among his titles that of Chief of Staff, United States Army; Supreme Commander, Allied Powers (Japan); Commander in Chief, Far East; Commanding General, U. S. Army, Far East; and Commander in Chief, United Nations Command.

General MacArthur traced his lineage to the ancient MacArthur clan of Scotland.  A branch of the  Campbell Clan, their antiquity is measured by the ancient Scottish adage:  “There is nothing older, except the hills, MacArtair and the devil.”

The school colors are green, gold, and black as in the MacArthur Clan tartan.

“’Tis Green for the sheen o’ the pines
And Black for the gloom o’ the glen
‘Tis Gold for the gleam o’ the gorse
The MacArtair tartan, ye ken.”
