MMS SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY "HARD WORK PAYS OFF" |
The philosophy of Macarthur Middle School is to impact to each student a balanced education that emphasized English, math, social studies, and science. As the middle school student is in a unique stage of development, we believe that the curriculum should be particularly conducive to the need for learning experiences which accommodate the transition from elementary school to the high school. Therefore, educators, administrators, and staff are encouraged and challenged to develop innovative, progressive, and creative styles and perspectives.
As educators, we are concerned not only with the academic but also with the emotional growth of the middle school student. Therefore, our goal is to provide the student with intelligent, committed, honest, and sincere adult guidance and instruction so that each individual may acquire academic competency and knowledge of self. We hope that he or she will then be able to understand and cope with the physical, emotional, and intellectual changes that accompany adolescence.
We believe that a good curriculum should provide a wide variety of decision-making experiences which will enhance that growth and maturity of the whole individual. Thereby, we endeavor to provide an environment that will encourage all students to become responsible, self-reliant, literate, informed citizens who respect the rights of others and can contribute to our democratic society while developing fulfilling personal goals.
