LPS

Dear Educator, Parent, or Community Member,

\r\n

The administration and the district Professional Development Committee are pleased to announce that Lawton Public Schools is again participating in the 2020-2021 Oklahoma State Department of Education Teacher of the Year Program.  This program is designed to recognize exceptional classroom teaching at local, regional, and state levels.

\r\n

All classroom teachers completing at least three years of teaching, including the 2019-2020 school year, are eligible to be nominated.  The state’s focus upon effective instruction in this recognition is consistent with our district’s stated goals and emphasis upon excellence in the instructional program.

\r\n

We invite you to participate in this program by nominating a classroom teacher who exemplifies the finest in the profession.  Each school will name its own Teacher of the Year.  The school finalists will then be narrowed down to seven district finalists. Lawton Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year Committee will determine the LPS Teacher of the Year based on portfolio entries, interview, letters of recommendation, and a video of the nominee teaching in the classroom.

\r\n

In addition to representing Lawton at the state level, this year’s LPS Teacher of the Year will be awarded gifts donated from local businesses.

\r\n

Contact your building principal for a form to nominate an outstanding teacher, or call the Professional Development office at the Shoemaker Center, 357-6900.
