The Ignition program is a nationwide program brought to the school by Assistant Principal Francy Garner. Ignition is a freshman transition program designed with upper classmen serving as mentors to the freshmen. The program starts with an orientation before the first day of school called Ignite! This day is packed with activities involving a low ropes course, games, and a mock schedule that will hopefully diminish the freshmen’s jitters as they start high school. The program continues all year with meetings every other week. The students discuss strategies for being successful in high school and finish out the year with a community service project.
